Wordless Wednesday: Rainbow pancakes

This is what I get for browsing Pinterest with the boy looking over my shoulder.

"Coloured pancakes?! I want coloured pancakes for lunch! Can we please make them?"

Coloured with plain ol' food dye. Oh, the shame.

But memories matter more than ideals. And you know what?

It was totally worth it to see his eyes light up at this stack of rainbow prettiness.

Totally. Worth it.

  1. hahaha! I know that scenario well! My boy loves to look over my shoulder while I'm browsing Pinterest too - "Oh, that looks like a lot of fun. Let's make that!".

  6. I almost always add a few drops of food coloring to pancakes or waffles--I just can't help it! It makes the kids so happy. Occasionally, I also add a bit to their water or milk and let them have what they call "magic fairy drinks"! (Last night, that turned out to be an excellent teaching tool about digestion: "The glass is your stomach. The water is stomach acid. The drop of food coloring is the food. It goes in all together, but then gets all swirled around and dissolved." Seriously, my six-year-old totally understands digestion now. I feel like that makes up for all the food coloring.)
